Bupa-Great-South-Run-2010-21-Corporate.jpg

On October 24th 2010, supporters of STT will be taking part in the Great South Run, Portsmouth. The motley crew includes individuals spanning a 40 year range, who will be walking, jogging and running their way around the 10 mile course in order to raise sponsorship and awareness of the STT cause. We will be joined by one of the founding members (Ann Evans) and a former PDO (Anna Tracey) along with seven other dedicated supporters.

The 10 mile course is fairly flat, thank goodness and offers a wide range of views and historic sites along the way, such as HMS Warrior, HMS Victory and the Spinnaker Tower. There are a few band stands along the way and a couple of water points...no rest stops unfortunately L.
Along with the thousands of fun runners, club athletes and charity teams, there will be a mix of celebrities and elite athletes from around the world. In 2009 British runner Mo Farah won the mens race with a time of 46mins 25secs, whilst Portuguese runner Ines Monteiro won the ladies race in 52mins 32secs. The STT troop will be aiming for times from a couple of hours to my slow but steady approach of 3 and a half hrs plus....it wouldn’t be good to burn out too fast.

The Bupa Great South Run is the UK’s largest 10 mile run with 21,000 entrants anticipated. This is the 21st in the South series, and spaces were filled fast, the only way to take part now is by contacting one of the charities with spaces left – although these are also going quickly. STT has 4 spaces left...so if you are a budding runner, or know someone who is, please contact Helen on admin@sunseedtanzania.org for details of how to apply. We will be selling our spare places at the end of August so contact ASAP if you are interested.

If taking part personally does not appeal you can still help by sponsoring the team. Please go to www.everyclick.com/sunseedtanzania  and click on the ‘Give Now’ button which brings up the options below.

EveryclickYou can either donate for free by choosing to ‘Give as you Live’, or by clicking ‘Donate’ and following the onscreen instructions. Don’t forget to click the Gift Aid button as this makes a significant difference to the size of donations.

We will keep you posted on team developments – sponsorship raised so far comes to over £800 and we have only just started collecting.....

Wish us luck

Helen
